Model Outreach Talks

The presentations on this page are outreach talks for high school and middle school students to show them who engineers are and what engineers do. The presenters are undergraduate engineers from the Engineering Ambassadors Network. These presentations communicate messages from Changing the Conversation, which was authored by the National Academy of Engineering. Outreach presentations in the Engineering Ambassadors Network follow the assertion-evidence approach.

Madeline Nellis and Mary Walker, who are Engineering Ambassadors from Penn State, present an outreach talk to high school students on how engineers develop prosthetics to improve the lives of amputees.

Lauren Murphy and Sara Krisher, who are Engineering Ambassadors from Penn State, present an outreach talk on how engineers helped Felix Baumgartner achieve the world's highest parachute jump.

Engineering Ambassadors from Penn State present an outreach talk on how engineers design roller coasters to be fun and safe.

Jessica Menold and Adrienne Crivaro, who are Engineering Ambassadors from Penn State, present an outreach talk on how engineers help movies create magical effects and stunts.
